Inside a Wisconsin city's federal crossing elimination grant-funded underpass project

For years, the city of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, has wanted to eliminate a grade crossing due to safety issues. Thanks to a $1 million Federal Railroad Administration Railroad Crossing Elimination (RCE) grant the city was awarded in January, it can begin developing an underpass. 

Wauwatosa City Engineer Boris Veleusic recently spoke with RailPrime Associate Editor Bridget Dean about the underpass project (see the video below). They also toured the crossing itself to illustrate the city’s concerns and the work it has ahead of it to improve safety and connectivity for Wauwatosa residents, businesses and emergency responders.
