Amtrak adds trains to Cascades line for Thanksgiving

To accommodate additional riders expected during the Thanksgiving holiday week, Amtrak has added four trains along the Cascades route between Portland, Ore., and Seattle.

The extra trains will operate Nov. 27 through Dec. 1, Amtrak officials said in a press release.

The heaviest travel days are Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after the holiday, they said. With the exception of Thanksgiving Day, morning trains typically have more seats available than those in the afternoon and evening.

The Cascades service is operated by Amtrak and funded by the Washington and Oregon state departments of transportation.
