Amtrak, in conjunction with the Vermont Agency of Transportation, last week began selling tickets for the Ethan Allen Express route between Burlington, Vermont, and New York City.
Service will kick off at 10:10 a.m. July 29 with a celebration at Burlington’s Union Station. Ticket prices include $1 fares within Vermont on the express service, limited shuttle service on opening day and 50% promotional fares for the express this summer.
The route has stops in Vergennes and Middlebury, Vermont. Both stations are historic, with the Ferrisburgh-Vergennes Station having recently undergone restoration.
The daily route will depart from Burlington at 10:10 a.m. and arrive in Moynihan Train Hall at New York Penn Station at 5:45 p.m. Northbound service will depart Penn Station at 2:21 p.m. with arrival in Burlington at 9:55 p.m.
"Passengers who want to experience the beauty, outdoor fun and diverse offerings of Middlebury, Vergennes and Burlington or travel to New York City can now do so sustainably, without being in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and while taking in some of the best views in the country via Amtrak," said Amtrak President Roger Harris. "The extension of service to Burlington highlights the continued growth in demand for train travel throughout this country."
