Amtrak, VIA Rail Canada Inc., New York State Department of Transportation and federal officials yesterday announced passenger-rail service on the Adirondack route into Montreal will be restored April 3.

The New York City-to-Montreal route has been suspended since March 2020 due to the pandemic. The Adirondack is "one of the most popular trains in the Northeast," said Amtrak President Roger Harris.

The 10-hour ride includes stops in Albany-Rensselaer, Poughkeepsie, Saratoga Springs and Schenectady, New York.

The first northbound Adirondack train will depart Moynihan Train Hall at New York Penn Station on April 3 and arrive in Canada’s Gare Centrale/Central Station in Montreal for the first time since 2020. The first southbound Adirondack train since 2020 will depart Montreal for New York City on April 4.
