By nearly a six-to-one margin, Amtrak locomotive engineers represented by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Division of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters ratified a new agreement with the national intercity passenger railroad late last week.
Based on the recommendations of Presidential Emergency Board 242, the contract provides a 34.7 percent wage increase over the life of the contract, which extends to Dec. 31, 2009. The pact, which covers about 1,300 engineers, also includes retroactive pay to July 1, 2002
