Orlando Amtrak station undergoes $2 million repair project
Orlando, Fla., city officials yesterday marked the completion of $2 million in renovations to the city’s Amtrak station.
Built in 1926, the station serves 160,550 passengers annually. The rehab project was designed to improve accessibility for residents and visitors, according to a press release from Mayor Buddy Dyer’s office.
The renovated station also is expected to increase connectivity with the new SunRail stop near the Orlando Health campus downtown.
"By making investments and improvements to our current infrastructure, through projects like this Amtrak restoration project, we are able to connect our community to a variety of affordable alternatives to using a car and increase access to jobs and opportunity, promote active lifestyles and reduce our impact on the environment," Dyer said in a statement.
