American PetroLog LLC has completed construction of a storage and transload terminal in Venus, Texas, that will be served by BNSF Railway Co.

In January, the company acquired the assets of B&E Grain Inc. and developed the 8-acre rail site to serve customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. The terminal offers transloading and storage of bulk liquid, dry bulk and carload commodities.

Company officials decided to open the terminal in Venus because of the growing market for consumption and manufacturing in north Texas, said American PetroLog President Jeff Colonna in a press release.

"In many cases railroads provide the most economical and reliable means of freight transportation, so our services are needed to support this growth," he said. "We've been fortunate to have already signed several loading slot and tank storage placement contracts and we are in the process of finalizing positions for a couple more customers."

American PetroLog also is looking to "jointly identify opportunities to develop BNSF terminals in other markets," said Robert Kellner, the company's chief relationship officer.
