Burlington Northern Santa Fe April 9 added temperature-controlled moves in nine lanes to its on-time intermodal guarantee program.
Since May 2000, BNSF has offered a full money-back-guaranteed dry-product freight service in select lanes.
"The vast majority of temperature-controlled goods move over the road," said Steve Branscum, BNSF group vice president, consumer products, in a prepared statement, adding that the railroad’s guaranteed service has been well received by dry-freight shippers.
Under BNSF’s on-time program, shippers may purchase, for a premium, a guarantee for three intermodal service levels in the following lanes: Chicago to Seattle; Chicago to Portland, Ore.; Chicago to San Bernardino, Calif.; Chicago to Denver; Chicago to Alliance, Texas; St. Paul to Seattle; St. Paul to Portland; Kansas City, Mo., to San Bernardino; and Alliance to San Bernardino.
