East Valley Industrial Park LLC has received the first round of funding and let contracts for the mainline turnout installation and site construction of its Bakken unit train logistics hub near Williston, N.D., the company announced last week.

BNSF Railway Co. will serve the new terminal when it opens later this year.

The East Valley Rail Terminal (EVR) has been designed to be the most efficient inbound oil field service supply terminal in the Williston basin, East Valley officials said in a press release.

At full build-out, the facility will be able to handle three inbound and three outbound trains per day, in unit train or manifest service, they said. Storage will be able to accommodate up to 240,000 tons of frac sand and other proppants.

Additionally, the terminal will accommodate the shipping, storage and distribution of additional products such as natural gas liquids, drill and line pipe, cement, chemicals, fuel, oil and agricultural products.

Eighty to 86 active drill rigs in North Dakota were drilling within 60 miles of the EVR terminal, company officials said.

"With over 230 acres for service companies and producers to realign operations and reduce costs, we’re at the right place with the right solution at the right time,” said East Valley Industrial Park Chief Operating Officer Jason Everett.

The terminal is scheduled to open in December.
