Third Coast, a chemical contract manufacturer located on the Texas Gulf Coast, yesterday announced plans to expand its operations, including a major rail expansion, in Pearland, Texas. The site is served by BNSF Railway Co.
The rail expansion inside the plant’s limits will accommodate increased demand for inbound and outbound rail movements, Third Coast officials said in a press release. The company will add 40 rail-car spots inside the plant’s fence line to be completed in second-quarter 2025. Following the expansion, Third Coast will have space for more than 125 rail cars on site.
Other plant expansion plans call for a new 10-stage batch distillation column, which will have a capacity of 26,000 gallons; and a new entrance into the facility.
"Our Pearland operations remain a cornerstone of Third Coast's manufacturing base, and these investments will allow us to continue serving the fast-growing U.S. Gulf Coast chemical industry," said Third Coast CEO Jim Clawson.
Meanwhile, CJ Logistics America, a supply chain and technology company, announced yesterday that it will open a cold storage warehouse in New Century, Kansas. Developed under joint venture by Yukon Real Estate Partners and BGO, the project will feature a rail-served 291,000-square-foot warehouse is slated to open in third-quarter 2025.
The new warehouse will feature a direct rail spur. The site is located less than 4 miles from Interstate 35 and 11 miles from a newly developed BNSF intermodal facility, CJ Logistics officials said in a press release.
"The opening of this new facility continues the momentum from our announcement earlier this year of our new cold storage warehouse in Gainesville, Georgia," said CJ Logistics America CEO Kevin Coleman.
