Schneider has begun offering intermodal services at BNSF Railway Co.'s ramp in Barstow, California, the trucking and logistics company announced yesterday.

Service to and from the Barstow ramp — located northeast of San Bernardino, California —  will go directly to Chicago five days per week.

The new intermodal ramp service provides shippers in eastern Southern California, Las Vegas and western Arizona with a "cost-competitive" transpiration option to Chicago and Northeast U.S. markets, Schneider officials said in a press release.

“San Bernardino has experienced a lot of growth in recent years, creating capacity issues for shippers in the region,” says Jim Filter, senior vice president and general manager of Schneider’s intermodal division.

Including Barstow, Schneider offers intermodal service to more than 40 ramps in North America.
