BNSF Railway Co. recently named Dean Wise vice president of network strategy, effective Feb. 1. He will report to Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Matt Rose, and succeed Pete Rickershauser, who plans to retire on April 30.

Most recently a partner in freight, transportation and logistics consulting firm Norbridge Inc., Wise will be responsible for haulage and interline management, network strategy development, public-private partnerships and short-line business development. He previously served as VP for Mercer Management Consulting, now Oliver Wyman, and held various management positions at Temple Barker & Sloane Inc., Conrail and Southern Pacific Transportation Co.

Rickershauser joined BNSF in 1996 as VP of marketing and has served as VP of network development since 1999. He began his railroad career with several Conrail predecessors, and served stints at Norfolk Southern Railway and Southern Pacific Railroad.
