Here's the latest from several rail industry suppliers and service providers:

• Duos Technologies Inc. won a more than $1 million contract from Epsilon Systems Solutions Inc. to expand an existing intelligent video and security sensor system along a segment of Amtrak's and CSX Transportation's system running through downtown Washington DC. Epsilon Systems is the prime contractor and program manager for a U.S. Department of Homeland Security project calling for the creation of a comprehensive virtual security buffer zone. Duos' system is designed to process input from radio frequency identification tags and security-sensitive detectors. System data is monitored by Amtrak and CSXT police, and made available to federal, district and local authorities.

• EMCOR Group Inc. subsidiary Welsbach Electric Corp. obtained a contract from MTA New York City Transit to provide electrical and civil/structural construction services for the rehabilitation of the Dyckman and 73rd Street substations. Welsbach Electric will install direct-current switchgear and associated equipment at the Dyckman substation, build and equip a circuit breaker house in the subway near the substation, and install a power rectifier transformer at the 73rd Street substation.

• The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) has installed the first phase of PS Technology's crew management and timekeeping system. Once fully installed, the system will provide the agency up-to-the-second information on crew assignments, bulletins and awards, and time/attendance/leave management, PS Technology said.

• AT&T Inc. has deployed a wireless communication system along SEPTA's Market-Frankford subway line, including an underground section between 40th and 2nd streets. Riders can use the system to make cell phone calls, send text messages or check emails.

• Kelso Technologies Inc. has delivered 25 JS pressure-relief valves to a fertilizer chemical shipper that uses tank cars. During the past several months, the company has met with 18 major shippers, lessors and tank-car companies, which present pressure-relief valve sales opportunities through year's end totaling between $580,000 and $850,000 — a step forward toward an overall goal to increase sales, revenue and the customer base, Kelso said.

• MHF Logistical Solutions Inc. named Alvin Anderson business development manager of vertical & industrial commodities. Most recently business development manager for GalCo Environmental Specialists, he previously held various sales and marketing positions at CSX Transportation, Fidelity Express, United Parcel Service and Phillip Morris. MHF provides transportation services — including rail — for radioactive, hazardous and non-hazardous waste and materials.

• DRI Corp.'s Mobitec Group in Sweden won a $900,000 order from a Swedish rail-car restoration firm to supply Mobitec® interior/exterior sign and voice announcement systems. Delivery is expected to conclude in the fourth quarter. The Swedish firm will install the Mobitec products on rail cars in Stockholm's public transportation fleet.

• TransCore has added StarTrak's ReeferTrak® system to its portfolio of mobile satellite services offered to North American transportation companies. StarTrak's RT-6000 system provides refrigeration management functions — including reefer status, temperature compliance, remote control and fuel information — for rail cars, trailers, containers and trucks.
