Rail Runner to add four-quadrant gates at another three crossings
advertisement
New Mexico’s Rail Runner Express recently began upgrading three grade crossings in Sandia Pueblo with four-quadrant gates.
The gates will barricade all four lanes of traffic in each direction and make the area eligible for a “quiet zone” designation from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
In January, the agency obtained FRA approval to establish its first quiet zone along a stretch of track in Albuquerque’s north valley. Rail Runner Express currently is awaiting approval for a quiet zone at a crossing just north of the Belen station.
