The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will conduct a public workshop on June 10 in Williamston to review a rail corridor study and plans for grade crossing improvements.
The department plans to close two crossings in Williamston and upgrade other crossings. The proposed improvements are part of an effort to reduce the number of unsafe or redundant crossings in the state, NCDOT said.
