RailComm to install remote-control automation system at shipper's Texas yard

Formosa Plastics recently contracted RailComm Inc. to provide a wireless yard automation system for Marshall Yard II in Point Comfort, Texas.

The shipper will use the system to remotely control switches via a centrally located, outdoor-rated push-button control panel, decreasing time spent aligning switches for train movements through the yard, RailComm said.

The supplier will establish a point-to-multipoint wireless data communications network using its RADiANT™ technology to link the yard’s power switches to the control panel.

RailComm markets machine-to-machine command, control, communication and information systems to North American freight and passenger railroads, and other industries.
