Kansas City Southern’s two subsidiary railroads are onboard with a new dispatching system.

Last week, KCS deployed the Train Management Dispatching System (TMDS) for Kansas City Southern de Mexico S.A. de C.V. (KCSM). The company previously implemented the system in April for U.S. subsidiary The Kansas City Southern Railway Co.

TMDS is designed to manage trains under both Centralized Traffic Control and Track Warrant Control operations. The system features an integrated train sheet, electronic track bulletins, auto-routing capability and other train dispatching functions.

"This technology is a significant change in the way our dispatchers manage trains," said KCS Vice President of Transportation Bill Nolen in an online news item on the Class I’s "KCS Today" site.
