Rail industry suppliers have a few more announcements to share:

• Ansaldo STS and ATM SpA formed INMETRO Srl (International METRO Service), a company 51 percent-owned by ATM and 49 percent-owned by Ansaldo STS subsidiary Ansaldo Trasporti Sistemi Ferroviari that will manage a Copenhagen driverless metro built by Ansaldo STS. The Danish automated public transport system includes 22 stations, 13 of which are above ground.

• Voith Turbo Scharfenberg will supply 344 of its "one4" couplers to Bombardier Transportation for commuter trains Bombardier is building for French state railway SNCF. Voith Turbo already has provided more than 20,000 couplers in France for TGV high-speed trains, regional trains and Paris Metro vehicles.

• Bombardier obtained a $205 million contract from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, public transportation provider RET to design and build 43 BOMBARDIER FLEXITY Swift vehicles. The contract includes an option for 21 additional vehicles. Bombardier will deliver the vehicles — which will be used in three-car sets on the Erasmus and Caland lines — between June 2009 and February 2011. The vehicles will be equipped with the BOMBARDIER MITRAC propulsion system.

• RailComm Inc. commissioned a Track Warrant Control system for Capital Metro in Austin, Texas. The commuter railroad will use RailComm's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) system for dispatching in dark territory. Capital Metro contracted RailComm to expand an initial DOC® Track Warrant Control system to include Centralized Traffic Control functions for signalized locations. RailComm will be responsible for a central office control system and data communication network.
