Alcatel-Lucent recently won a contract from Swedish rail authority Banverket to deploy a business communication network.

The Internet Protocol (IP)/Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network will handle electronic transmissions related to Banverket's operations, such as signaling, rail intersections, train platform sign posts, and all communications associated with Global System for Mobile-Railway (GSM-R) and LAN services.

Alcatel-Lucent will provide its 7750 Service Router, 7450 Ethernet Service Switch and 7250 Service Access Switch. The Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager and 5650 Control Plane Assurance Manager will manage the network.

Alcatel-Lucent will deploy the network as a turnkey service, including design and maintenance, over a five-year period.
