Alcatel Transport Automation Solutions recently obtained contracts to modernize signal and train-control systems in Hungary and Poland.

Hungarian Railway MÁV awarded two contracts totaling $55.4 million to Alcatel and Hungarian civil works company Mávepcell to upgrade the Komárom station on the TEN Corridor IV line, and a 52.8-mile line between Zalalovo and Boba.

Alcatel will supply and install its 6131 LockTrac (ELEKTRA) interlocking solution, and outdoor signaling equipment, such as track occupancy systems, point machines, signals, level crossings and telecommunication equipment. The company also will install its 6413 AlTrac system, ERTMS/ETCS Level1-compliant train control system, and point heating equipment at the station.

Meanwhile, Alcatel and consortium partner Komunikacyjne Zaklady Automatyki I Teletechniki received a $39.6 million contract from the Polish Railway Lines to implement electronic interlocking systems in Poznan.

Alcatel will install its 6151 LockTrac advanced electronic interlocking system, signals, level crossings and 6315 FieldTrack microprocessor-based multiple section axle counters at six stations.
