Balfour Beatty Rail Inc. recently obtained a contract from the Denver Transit Construction Group to provide traction power, overhead electrification, signals and communications systems for the Regional Transportation District of Denver’s (RTD) West Corridor light-rail project.

Balfour Beatty will supply, install and test the systems for the 12-mile line, which will run from downtown Denver to JeffCo Station in Golden, Colo. Scheduled to open in late 2011, the line is part of RTD’s $4.7 billion FasTracks program, which calls for building 119 miles of light- and commuter-rail lines, and 57 stations by 2017.

A Herzog Contracting Corp./Stacy & Witbeck Inc. joint venture, Denver Transit Construction Group is serving as the West Corridor’s construction manager and general contractor.
