Mitsui & Co. Ltd. recently awarded a $39 million contract to a Bombardier Transportation/Belam Riga consortium to install a new signaling system for the Uzbekistan Railways.

Under its $19 million share of the contract, Bombardier will provide its EBI Lock 950 computer-based interlocking system, object controllers and wayside equipment for the railroad’s 125-mile, 17-station Tashguzar-to-Kumkurgan line. Belma Riga will provide and install telecommunications equipment.

The signaling equipment is scheduled to be delivered in 2009.
