The Delhi Metro Rail Corp. Ltd. (DMRC) recently awarded Bombardier Transportation a $43 million contract to design, manufacture, supply, install, test and commission BOMBARDIER CITYFLO 350 train control and signaling systems for two line sections.

The system will be installed on Delhi Metro's Lines 5 and 6, which total 23 miles. Work on Line 5 — which is fully elevated and includes 16 stations connecting Inderlok with the Mundka terminal station — is expected to be completed by December 2009. Work on Line 6 — a partly elevated, partly underground section with 14 stations that connects Central Secretariat with the Badarapur terminal station — is expected to be completed by May 2010. The system will be delivered by Bombardier Transportation Rail Control Solutions sites in Sweden, Thailand and India.

BOMBARDIER CITYFLO 350 includes an automatic train operation feature that automatically drives the train from station to station. The driver only supervises passenger flow — the opening and closing of the doors, and providing departure permission.
