The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) continues to install a new automated train operating system on the Orange Line between Chinatown and Oak Grove.
The project includes installing new switch machines, train stop devices, track circuits, signal rooms and cabling. Compatible with the existing signal system on the Southwest Corridor (Orange Line-South), the automated system will improve reliability and capacity, according to a prepared statement.
