Rail News: Communication and Signal
MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) recently awarded Dialight Corp. a $1.8 million contract to provide light-emitting diode (LED) trackside signals.
The contract calls for retrofitting 13,400 incandescent units with LED modules, which will complete a conversion of NYCT’s more than 50,000 signals.
Designed to retrofit two 16-watt incandescent bulbs with a module based on the latest high-flux LED and driver technology, the 891 Series LED signals will save NYCT “nearly $1 million a year in utility bills and maintenance,” according to Dialight, which worked with the agency for six years to develop the LED signal.
