New York State DOT to review Olean crossing changes at public hearing

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has scheduled a public hearing for April 16 in Olean, N.Y., to review proposed modifications to a public grade crossing on North Union Street.

The city of Olean plans to change the street from two lanes to one lane in each direction. If NYSDOT approves the plan, cantilevered overhead signals at the crossing will be removed and new crossing gates and flashers will be installed.

The crossing is located on the Buffalo Line of the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad L.L.C.'s River Subdivision.

The hearing will establish a record on the project and help determine whether the crossing modifications are in the public interest, NYSDOT officials said in a hearing announcement.
