North Carolina DOT to close 'redundant' crossing
advertisement
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) recently announced plans to close the Clark Street grade crossing in Rocky Mount on May 25.
The crossing is redundant and in close proximity to a nearby intersection, causing traffic problems for motorists, according to NCDOT. The crossing was listed as a closure candidate in a traffic separation study that helped the agency identify redundant, high-accident or low-volume crossings throughout the state.
NCDOT works with communities to close or consolidate low-volume or redundant crossings. Since 1993, the agency has closed more than 170 public crossings.
