Ohio planning commission issues study on CSX line crossings

The Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission earlier this month released a draft railroad improvement study regarding a CSX Transportation line between the Auglaize County line and Lima, Ohio.

The draft study analyzes grade crossings along the line, identifies deficiencies based on the state's manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, recommends certain incremental improvements and proposes a comprehensive approach to improve safety at the crossings.

"There were several reasons for conducting studies … [which] are useful in the planning, monitoring and analysis of transportation improvement programming," commission members said in a press release. "In addition, studies are useful tools to help maintain and increase fiscal appropriations in an era of dwindling resources."

The draft study is available for public review and comments until July 23 at the commission's office in Lima.
