Ohio utilities commission OKs crossing upgrades

advertisement
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) recently authorized the Ohio Rail Development Commission to direct CSX Transportation and the Columbus & Ohio River Railroad to install flashing lights and gates at two grade crossings.
CSXT will install lights and gates at the South Wayne Street crossing in Kenton and Columbus & Ohio River will install lights and gates at the Sycamore Road/County Road 27 crossing near Mt. Vernon.
The railroads must complete the crossing upgrades, which will be federally funded, by Oct. 4. PUCO will provide monies from the state’s Grade Crossing Safety Fund to help the local governments cover the cost of some minor improvements, such as rumble strips, illumination or improved signage.
