Ohio utilities commission OKs upgrades at three crossings

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) recently approved authorization from the Ohio Rail Development Commission directing CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern Railway and Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Co. (W&LE) to install safety devices at three grade crossings.
CSXT will install lights and gates at a crossing in Brown Township; NS will install lights and gates at a crossing in Toronto; and W&LE will install lights and gates at a crossing in Wellington Township.
The cost of the upgrades will be covered by federal funds. The railroads must complete all construction by Oct. 18, 2012, according to PUCO.
