Ohio utilities commission approves upgrades at three crossings

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) recently approved construction authorization from the Ohio Rail Development Commission that will enable two railroads to install flashing lights and gates at three grade crossings.
Norfolk Southern Railway will upgrade the Yankee Road/Todhunter Road/County Road 133 crossing near Monroe, and the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Co. will upgrade the Bucyrus Road/State Route 61 and Springmill Road crossings in Plymouth.
The railroads will be responsible for completing all construction work by Feb. 25, 2013. Funding for the upgrades will be covered by federal dollars.
