RailComm installs wireless blue flag indication system at BNSF yard

advertisement

RailComm Inc. recently commissioned a wireless remote-control Blue Flag Indication (BFI) system at BNSF Railway Co.’s Barstow, Calif., yard.

Designed to automate blue flag indication at both ends of a train, the system features a multi-point wireless data communication network based on RailComm's RADiANT™ data radio technology. At the yard, RailComm installed a central PC in the yard tower and other devices that can control blue flags via remote control.

In addition, RailComm employed its DOC® (Domain Operations Controller) software so yard managers can log the name and craft of each person controlling the flag, as well as the date and time of each flag activity. Managers can use BFI-generated data in Federal Railroad Administration reports.

RailComm markets machine-to-machine command, control, communication and information solutions to North American freight and passenger railroads, and other industries.
