RailComm installs wireless blue flag indication system at KCS yard

advertisement

RailComm Inc. recently installed a wireless remote control Blue Flag Indication (BFI™) system at the Kansas City Southern Railway Co.’s Heavener, Okla., yard.

The automated system is designed to eliminate the need to manually place a blue flag at both ends of a train. The BFI system remotely controls blue flag indication through RailComm’s RADiANT™ data radio technology. In Heavener, the system is controlled through a supervisory personal computer (PC) and field control panels, which feature a secure keypad.

The PC verifies an access code inputted into the keypad, confirms a date/time stamp of BFI operations and automatically generates FRA reports for blue flag operation.

RailComm’s BFI system features blue light-emitting diode (LED) indicators on mainlines and in yards. Radio remote control signals activate blue LED indicators that can be installed wherever flagging protection is required.

RailComm markets machine-to-machine command, control, communication and information systems to North American freight and passenger railroads, and other industries.
