RailComm Inc. is in the process of delivering state-of-the-art computer-aided dispatching to two North American railroads: one of Mexico’s largest freight railroads and an Indiana commuter-rail agency.

Earlier this year, the supplier signed a contract with Ferrosur S.A. de C.V. to provide the 870-mile Mexican freight railroad with Railcomm’s DOC® (Domain Operations Controller) technology for dispatch and train management. Two redundant servers will be reconfigured with automatic “failover” to support a six-workstation control center in Veracruz, Mexico, according to a prepared statement. Ferrosur dispatchers also will be able to access the system — which is scheduled to be operational by summer’s end — from the railroad’s Mexico City office.

RailComm also is supplying the DOC® system to the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD). To be located in the agency’s Michigan City, Ind., dispatch center, the system will provide centralized traffic control, track warrant dark territory control, and supervisory control and data acquisition capability to control and monitor 11 electrical substations along NICTD’s right of way. RailComm also is helping the agency migrate from current train order operating rules to the General Code of Operations Rules.
