Schaefer Inc. recently introduced a line of converters designed for “dead start” cranking in rail applications, such as locomotive controls and communications equipment, telecommunication and process control systems, and power stations.
Housed in a sealed stainless-steel enclosure and featuring remote sensing, and overvoltage and current limit protection, the converters are designed to supply power to auxiliary control circuitry from a number of sources, including third-rail catenary lines.
Schaefer supplies on-board, stationary and signaling power equipment to the railroad industry.
