Belgian railway infrastructure owner Infrabel recently awarded a five-year, $557.4 million contract to a Siemens Transportation Systems/Alstom Transport joint venture to upgrade signal equipment.
Belosignal, a joint venture created by Siemens Belgium and Alstom Belgium, will complete the order. Siemens will supply redundant computers for Infrabel’s operations control system, and corresponding power supply and optical control panels. The company also will commission the system and conduct service work for the new information technology equipment. Alstom will supply interlocking equipment, including 31 signal towers and 1,400 trackside control units.
