Texas town considers quiet zone

advertisement
Tomorrow, city of Brenham, Texas, council members will decide whether to approve a quiet zone at BNSF Railway Co. grade crossings from Kuhn Lane to Burleson Street.
If the council approves the plan, members would authorize the mayor to submit a joint notice to the Federal Railroad Administration for the establishment of a quiet zone, as well as provide documentation to BNSF and the Texas Department of Transportation. Train horns then would be required to be silenced at the crossings beginning Sept. 30.
The city has installed traversable medians at several crossings and performed other work to prepare the area as a quiet zone.
