Union Switch & Signal Inc. (US&S) recently reached an agreement to acquire RM Star Inc., which provides yard control systems and related products in North America. Terms weren’t disclosed.

Subject to customary closing conditions, the transaction is expected to close by month’s end. RM Star will continue to operate in Norristown, Pa., but become integrated into US&S’ organization.

“The combination of US&S and RM Star represents a significant step in our strategy to deliver integrated solutions that help our customers manage their entire rail network,” said US&S President and Chief Executive Officer Ken Burk in a prepared statement.

US&S provides signaling, automation, and control equipment and systems to the worldwide rail and mass transit industries.
