Here are a few more developments in the rail supply/service provider world as the week draws to a close:

• Rail product supplier L.B. Foster Co. announced board members John Puth and Henry Massman will not stand for re-election at the company's annual meeting in May, and Peter Mcllroy and Suzanne Rowland have been nominated to take their place. Mcllroy is chairman and chief executive officer of Robroy Industries; Rowland is managing director of Energy & Environmental Enterprises Inc.

• Engineering firm STV Inc. named Majid Hedayati senior vice president and promoted Bruce Jabbonsky, Martin Boyle, Peter Dewes, Ashraf Basta and Jeffery Sueck to vice president. Hedayati will continue to serve as director of STV's national transportation and infrastructure division in the northeast region, Jabbonsky will continue as the divisions' project manager for complex transportation and institutional facilities, and Boyle will continue as the division's rail systems practice leader. Dewes most recently was an associate, Basta was senior associate and Sueck — who's the construction management division's deputy national director of project controls — was senior associate.

• Chicago-based rail-car lessor AIG Rail Services Inc. named Jeffrey Griffin vice president of rail car leasing. He previously served Union Pacific Railroad and GE Railcar in various capacities. Griffin will be based in Omaha, Neb.

• ContainerTrac Inc. reached an agreement with SSA Terminals to install a cell-level position detection system (PDS) at the Port of Oakland's international container terminal. ContainerTrac will begin implementing PDS in spring and integrate it with SSA Terminals' terminal operating system. PDS is designed to provide automated position identification of containers in densely stacked seaports and rail facilities.

• Pandrol's FASTCLIP elastic rail fastener has been adopted by the Iraqi Railways as a standard fastener. Pandrol is providing the railway machines to mechanically install FASTCLIPs. Pandrol also obtained a contract to provide fasteners in Saudi Arabia for a new heavy-haul track that will be used to transport phosphate and bauxite to a new deepwater port on the Gulf. In addition, Swedish rail authority Banverket awarded Pandrol a five-year contract to supply FASTCLIPs. The authority previously used Pandrol's e-Clip system.

• Network Rail is working with MAPS Technology Ltd. to develop MAPS-SFT, a system that would help manage rail neutral temperature to prevent track buckles. Network Rail — which maintains track, signaling systems and other infrastructure in the United Kingdom — plans to use the system to monitor sections of continuous-welded rail (CWR). MAPS-SFT would be designed to non-destructively determine changes in CWR's neutral temperature at key locations, such as curves, switches and crossings, that aren't easily tested, MAPS Technology said.

• Thales announced it obtained a contract from Shanghai Metro to provide SelTrac communications-based train control for the city's new Line 7 and northern extension. Shanghai Shentong Group Co. awarded two contracts valued at $65 million to a consortium comprising Thales Rail Signaling Solutions, Alcatel Shanghai Bell and Shanghai Automation Instrumentation Co.
