advertisement
Last week, the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) approved allocations from the Grade Crossing Protective Fund (GCPF) to help pay for upgrades at two grade crossings.
The commission will provide $20,000 for work at a Puget Sound & Pacific Railroad crossing near Silverdale. The project calls for upgrading the existing flashing lights to flashing LED lights, replacing two sets of cross-buck signs, upgrading the motion-sensor train detection technology, and installing surge protection and shunt-enhancement panels. The upgrades must be completed by June 30, 2013.
The UTC also will provide $20,000 from the GCPF for work at a Puget Sound & Pacific crossing near Shelton. The project involves upgrading flashing lights to flashing LED lights, replacing two sets of cross-buck signs, upgrading the motion-sensor train detection technology and installing a surge protection panel. The work also must be completed by June 30, 2013.
