CN has reached a tentative three-year agreement with the United Steelworkers Union (USW) Local 2004 covering 3,000 workers who inspect, maintain and repair track, bridges and infrastructure in Canada.
The agreement follows months of negotiations that began in October 2023. The previous collective agreement expired Dec. 31, 2023.
The new pact is unanimously endorsed by the union’s nine-member bargaining committee. Voting results are expected by the end of March or in early April, CN officials said in a news release.
The USW has 225,000 members in nearly every economic sector in Canada and is the largest private-sector union in North America, with 850,000 members in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean.
