CN yesterday announced a donation of CA$100,000 to Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS), a nonprofit organization that provides emergency medical care to rural areas of western Canada.
The donation will fund ongoing operational needs in Saskatchewan, where STARS provides support to communities along the CN rail line. Many railroad employees live and work in the area, too, CN officials said in a press release.
"As a former board member of STARS, I understand the important role this organization plays in the lives of so many communities, including Saskatchewan," said CN President and CEO Tracy Robinson.
Established in 1985, STARS operates six bases in the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with extended coverage into British Columbia.
