For the fourth consecutive year, CN is featured in the Carbon Disclosure Project's "Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index," which recognizes companies' efforts to disclose climate change information.

This index highlights companies within the Canada 200 Index that have displayed the most professional approach to corporate governance regarding climate change information disclosure practices. Companies are scored on their climate change disclosure according to the quality of internal data management and an understanding of issues related to climate change issues that affect them.

"We have made significant strides in our sustainability agenda, which is focused on lowering emissions, increasing energy efficiency, reducing waste and encouraging environmental stewardship among our employees and in the communities we serve," said CN President and Chief Executive Officer Claude Mongeau in a prepared statement.

CN also earned a place on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) North America for the fourth straight year and on the DJSI World Index for the first time. The indices are based on a thorough analysis of economic, environmental and social performance.

Meanwhile, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency and Prince Rupert Port Authority are soliciting public comments on an environmental report for the Fairview Terminal Phase II expansion project CN and the authority are proposing at the Port of Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Written comments will be accepted until Nov. 16.

CN and the authority plan to expand the existing Fairview Terminal at the port by extending the existing wharf structure and expanding an onshore terminal. As part of the project, CN would construct two sidings, a maintenance road and wye track to improve terminal throughput.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency and port authority will consider the submitted public comments while reviewing the environmental report.
