CN hammers out EJ&E-related mitigation agreement with 17th Chicago-area city
advertisement
Yesterday, CN announced it reached a voluntary mitigation agreement with the City of Warrenville, Ill., concerning the integration of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway (EJ&E).
The pact calls for the Class I to provide funding for the creation of a quiet zone, mitigate noise and provide emergency response training.
CN now has reached similar agreements with 17 Chicago-area municipalities — more than half of the 33 cities situated along the EJ&E’s lines in Illinois and Indiana.
The Class I aims to continue negotiating mitigation pacts with other municipalities. The railroad expects to fully integrate the EJ&E into its network within three years.
