In February, CN set a new record for western Canadian grain movements on its network.

The railroad moved more than 2.4 million metric tonnes of grain during the month. That exceeded the previous record set in February 2021 by over 200,000 metric tonnes.

CN officials attributed the increase to heightened collaboration with supply-chain partners that enabled a stronger performance through operational challenges, including periods of extreme cold.

"When each of us has a better understanding of what our partners are dealing with, we can adjust our individual operations to work through disruptions when they occur," said Sandra Ellis, CN's vice president of bulk-rail centric supply chain, in a press release. "That type of collaboration leads to higher levels of performance across the entire supply chain."
