Canada to acquire Quebec Bridge from CN

The Canadian government has reached an agreement to acquire the historic Quebec Bridge from CN, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced last week.
Canada will invest about $CA40 million per year for the next 25 years to preserve the bridge's vitality, government officials said in a press release. The government's bridge rehabilitation program also includes a contribution component for painting and aesthetics.
Built in 1917, the Quebec Bridge is a road, rail and pedestrian bridge linking the shores of Quebec City and Levis, Quebec. It was designed to boost economic development and connect Quebec City to the Canadian and American rail networks. In 1995, the bridge was designated a National Historic Site of Canada.
The repatriation agreement is the result of significant consultations and negotiations with CN, the government of Quebec and other stakeholders.
