Cargill Ltd. plans to increase rail capacity at its Rosetown, Saskatchewan, grain elevator from 50 rail cars to 100 cars to better serve north Saskatchewan farmers, company officials announced on Monday.

Construction on the expansion is scheduled to begin in June and conclude in fall. CN serves the Rosetown facility.

"We are confident that by increasing our rail capacity in Rosetown, we'll be better positioned to offer our customers the services they've come to expect from Cargill for their evolving business needs," said Cargill President Jeff Vassart in a press release.

In December, the company finished expanding rail capacity at its Kindersley, Saskatchewan, grain facility to 100 cars, "granting customers a more competitive advantage with additional access to western markets," Cargill officials said.
