Yesterday, Canadian Pacific announced it appointed a senior operations team to lead the execution of new service plans.

The Class I named Doug McFarlane senior vice president of U.S. operations; Guido De Ciccio, SVP of Canadian operations; and Scott MacDonald, SVP of operations (system). All three will report to President and Chief Executive Officer E. Hunter Harrison.

"With the reorientation of the operating team, we are pushing decision making and execution out of the office and into the field," said Harrison. "I expect Doug's and Guido's teams to get closer to the customer, with Scott's team providing them with analytics, policy and transportation support."

Most recently VP of transportation, MacDonald joined CP in 2003 as director of locomotive maintenance. He later served as service area manager-mechanical, general manager of operations, and assistant VP in operations and transportation. MacDonald previously spent 13 years with the Canadian Forces as an aerospace engineering officer and seven years with GE Transportation.

Most recently VP of Canadian operations, De Ciccio began his CP career in 1976 in the mechanical department. He later served as service area manager for Montreal and the U.S. Northeast, GM of eastern operations and AVP of eastern operations.

McFarlane most recently was VP of U.S. operations. Since joining CP in 1976, he served stints as a laborer in the mechanical department, conductor and locomotive engineer, and held several key executive roles in operations, transportation, interline, marketing and sales, and labor relations.
