Former CN senior exec Trafton to join CP's board

Canadian Pacific announced last week that Gordon Trafton has been appointed to the company's board, effective Jan. 1.

Trafton retired as a special adviser to the CN leadership team in 2010. From 2003 to 2009, he was CN's senior vice president of strategic acquisitions and integration, and served as senior VP of the Southern region. Prior to joining CN, he held leadership positions with Illinois Central Railroad and Burlington Northern Railroad.

"Gordon brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the board," said CP Chairman Andrew Reardon in a press release. "His knowledge of the railroading industry and his familiarity with our leadership team positions CP well for the future. We look forward to working closely with him as we continue our journey to railroading excellence."

Trafton also chairs the Leeds School of Business Board of Alumni and Friends at the University of Colorado Boulder. Over the past six years, he has served on three additional nonprofit education boards.
