CP, Teamsters reach tentative deal to end strike

Canadian Pacific and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference-Train & Engine (TCRC) have reached a tentative contract agreement, ending a strike that began Tuesday night.

The TCRC represents more than 3,000 conductors and engineers. A four-year tentative pact was reached with CP conductors and locomotive engineers, and a five-year tentative deal was reached with Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) conductors and locomotive engineers, according to a CP press release.

Details of the agreement will be presented to the TCRC membership for ratification.

"It is especially meaningful to achieve a four-year tentative agreement with our valued locomotive engineers and conductors, providing long-term stability for all parties involved," said CP President and Chief Executive Officer Keith Creel. "This is a significant step toward a renewed positive relationship growing forward together serving our customers and the Canadian economy."

TCRC President Doug Finnson said the tentative pact "is a solid step in re-establishing a positive business relationship and moving forward."

Meanwhile, CP and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) System Council No. 11 announced shortly after a May 29 strike deadline that they've reached a tentative three-year agreement. IBEW represents about 360 signals and communications workers at CP.
